Men's Swimming: Raiders Hang On to Lead Heading to Final Day at OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team finished in first place following the second day at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Ocasek Natatorium on Friday evening.

The Purple Raiders finished with a team score of 598 which puts them 29 points ahead of second place Ohio Northern.

All-OAC Finishers
  • 200-yard medley relay: team consisting of senior Jacob Hathaway (Lexington), freshman Trey Nickoli (Lexington), junior Evan Kemp (North East, Pa. / North East) and senior Lucas Starling (Lexington) won the event and broke the school record with a time of 1:30.91
  • 400-yard individual medley: Starling won the event with a time of 4:09.19
  • 100-yard butterfly: Kemp won the event and broke the school record with a time of 49.32 and freshman Ethan Harvey (Macedonia / St. Ignatius) finished second with a time of 50.68
  • 200-yard freestyle: freshman Leo Iacovetta (Mayfield) finished third with a time of 1:42.42
  • 100-yard breaststroke: Nickoli finished second with a time of 57.00
  • 100-yard backstroke: Hathaway won the event with a time of 49.59 and freshman Jackson Hodkey (Mentor) finished third with a time of 51.32
  • 100-yard freestyle: Kemp broke the school record with a time of 45.31 in a time trial

The Raiders are back in action tomorrow for the final day of the OAC Championships at Ocasek Natatorium with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. followed by diving at 2 p.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.
