GRANVILLE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team fell 15-4 to No. 7 nationally ranked Denison on Wednesday night.
The Purple Raiders (1-2) were led by
Lizzie Dorley with two goals while
Haylee Handrahan and
Mae Pawlikowski each scored a goal.
Denison (3-0) was led by MK Barnhart with three goals and two assists while Bridget Sheehy scored one goal and one assist.
Abby Reagan made four saves while Kaitlyn Kuczinaki made three saves in goal for Mount Union.
Denison held Mount Union goalless in the first quarter while scoring seven goals. Denison then added one in the second before Pawlikowski scored Mount Union's first goal of the game. Two more Denison goals pushed the lead up to 11-1 but Dorley responded with a goal to end the quarter.
In the third Denison outscored Mount Union 2-1 as Dorley scored her second goal of the game. The final period Mount Union for the first goal from Handrahan but Denison scored the final two.
Mount Union returns to play on Saturday heading to Washington, Pa. to take on Washington and Jefferson at 1 pm.
