Men's Basketball: No. 11 Raiders Cruise Past Baldwin Wallace in OAC Play

BEREA, Ohio – The no. 11 nationally ranked Mount Union men's basketball team defeated Baldwin Wallace 93-60 in Ohio Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening.

The Purple Raiders (19-2, 10-2 OAC) had five players score in double figures with sophomore Chance Casenhiser (Uniontown / Lake) leading the way game-high 14 points. Junior Elijah Farrington (Massillon / Massillon Washington) recorded his second straight double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, juniors Kevin Hamilton (Akron / St. Vincent St. Mary) and Shaun Vaden (Cleveland / Cornerstone Christian) both recorded 12 points, while sophomore Jack Dunbar (McMurray, Pa. / Peters Township) scored 11 to round out the Raiders in double digits.

The Yellow Jackets (6-15, 3-9 OAC) were led by Daiyaan Solomon who scored a game-high 11 points and AJ Pestello who scored 10.

The teams would go back-and-forth over the first seven minutes of action before Mount Union would go on an 11-3 run over 2:52 of action to take a 23-15 lead with 10:16 remaining in the first half. Baldwin Wallace would answer with a 7-1 run of their own to cut the lead to two with just under seven minutes to play in the half. The Raiders would then go on to outscore the Yellow Jackets 17-7 over the final six and a half minutes of the half, including an 8-0 run over the final 3:22 of the half to take their largest lead of the game at 41-29 heading into the halftime break.

Mount Union would open the second half with a 13-5 run over the first four and a half minutes to stretch their lead out to 20 points with 14:14 remaining in the game. Baldwin Wallace wouldn't be able to get closer than 17 points over the final 14 minutes of the game as the Raiders would go on to win 93-60.

The Raiders return home next when they host OAC foe Muskingum on Saturday, February 7 at 1 p.m. in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
