Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Take Care of Business; Head to OAC Championship on Saturday

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The No. 1 Seed Mount Union women's lacrosse team took down No. 4 Ohio Northern 13-6 Wednesday afternoon to advance to the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship.
 
Mount Union will now host the OAC Championship on Saturday at 1 pm taking on the No. 2-seed Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets who picked up an 11-9 victory over the No. 3-seed Otterbein Cardinals.
 
The Purple Raiders (11-6, 6-0 OAC) were led by Lizzie Dorley with three goals and six draw controls.
 
Emma Kielbasa and Ella Nejad each added two goals with Mae Pawlikowski, Anna Weinel, Reese Fuenfstueck, Aliza Very, Olivia Bardescheswski and Mackenzie Brown each adding a goal.
 
Abby Reagan picked up six saves in goal, Emma Grell caused four turnovers while Alexa Udovicic caused three turnovers and had six ground balls for Mount Union.
 
Ohio Northern (9-9, 3-3 OAC) was led by Elena Martin with three goals while Kara Fox made 14 saves.
 
Mount Union jumped on the visitors quickly scoring two goals in the first 2:19 of the game with both coming from Nejad. Mount Union doubled its score before the end of the first quarter with a goal from Brown and Weinel leading 4-0 after the first.
 
The second quarter played out the same as the first as Dorley scored the first two goals for Mount Union in the first three minutes. Mount Union tacked on three more before the end of the quarter as Pawlikowski, Fuenfstueck and Dorley each got another leading 9-0 at the half.
 
A slow start to the third quarter saw two Ohio Northern goals before Kielbasa got her first goal of the night as Mount Union led 10-2. Northern got one more goal before the end of the third as Mount Union led 10-3.
 
Both teams got three goals the final quarter as Very, Bardeschewski and Kielbasa each scored for Mount Union to end the game.
 
Mount Union now hosts the OAC Championship on Saturday at 1 pm.
