Mount Union would jump out to a quick 4-2 lead to open set one before Adrian would quickly answer with back-to-back points to tie the set at four. The teams would then go back-and-forth over the next several points before a 12-3 run by the Raiders gave them a 24-14 lead and proved to be too much for the Bulldogs to overcome as Mount Union would take set one 25-17.
The Raiders would jump out to a 10-5 lead to open set two and would maintain that lead for a majority of the set until Adrian would go on a 9-0 run to claim their first lead of set two at 21-18. The teams would then go back-and-forth over the remainder of the set until three straight points from the Bulldogs would give them the 27-25 set two victory.
Set three would see the Adrian grab an early three-point lead, before the teams would go back-and-forth over the next several points. The Raiders would tie the set at multiple points but were never able to take the lead and then a 9-2 run from the Bulldogs to end the set would give them a 25-18 win in set three.
The fourth set once again saw the teams go back-and-forth to open it. Then, with the set tied at five apiece Mount Union would go on to outscore Adrian 20-3 over the remainder of the set taking the fourth set 25-8 and forcing a winner take all fifth set.
The fifth and final set would see the Raiders jump out to a quick 3-0 lead before the Bulldogs would slowly chip away at that lead to tie the set at seven apiece. Mount Union would then score three unanswered to regain the lead and that would prove to be enough as Adrian wouldn't be able to close the gap and Mount Union would go on to take set five 15-10.
The Raiders are back in action tomorrow as they host Olivet for Senior Day at 1 p.m. in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
