NEW CONCORD, OHIO—Mount Union's men's track and field team sits second after day one of the Ohio Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships hosted at Muskingum University on Thursday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders have 63 points just 14 behind Ohio Northern after day one as Mount Union set themselves up nicely in the prelims for a big day tomorrow.
Colton Hanlon got the meet going for the Purple Raiders winning on his first jump of the pole vault event and went over 15-feet 9.25-inches for the victory.
Nick Wong won the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase with a time of 9:21.89.
Cohen Boyce,
Jake Kapper and
Trent Miller took fourth, sixth and eighth with times of 9:39.26, 9:45.49 and 9:54.26.
Stephen Ulrich picked up the title in the 10,000-Meters with a time of 30:59.46 with
Caleb Cabrera finishing fifth with a 31:19.24.
Brady Burrey grabbed All-OAC honors in the javelin with a toss of 178-feet 8-inches which was good for second while
Ryan Schnering grabbed seventh with a toss of 149-feet 2-inches.
The 4x800-Meter relay team of
Ty Pratt, Zach Shawala,
Tyler Kohlmann and
Austin Hoffman finished fourth with a 7:54.19.
Angelo Miller finished seventh overall in the long jump with a leap of 21-feet 5.5-inches.
Trent Ellyson took seventh in the discus throw with a toss of 135-feet 7-inches.
Mount Union will warp up the championships tomorrow with field events beginning at 11 AM.
