ALLIANCE, Ohio – The No. 11 nationally ranked Mount Union baseball team lost 13-5 to Ohio Northern in the second elimination game of the 2026 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship Tournament at home on Saturday.
Mount Union (31-10) opened the contest with a 1-0 lead in the first inning when junior
Luke Ickes (Green, OH / Green) singled and eventually scored on an RBI single from
Daniel Tome III (Cleveland, OH / St. Edwards). However, Ohio Northern (28-14) erupted for five runs in the third inning and never relinquished the lead. Starting pitcher
Christopher Maurer (3-1) received the the loss, allowing five earned runs over three innings.
Despite the deficit, Mount Union's bats remained active, collecting 12 hits throughout the game. Ultimately, the Raiders were unable to capitalize fully on their opportunities, leaving 11 runners stranded on base. Junior
Brycen Fox (Hamilton, OH / Badin) led the offense, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
