GREENWOOD, Ind. – Mount Union Men's track and field/Cross Country seniors
Stephen Ulrich (Louisville),
Colton Hanlon (Uniontown / Lake),
Michael Cline (Twinsburg), junior
Dane Riley (Archbold) and sophomores
Matthew Sopchak (Chardon) and
Nick Franitti (Darlington, Pa. / Ellwood City) have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams.
Cline was an art major with a 3.98 GPA. Cline helped the 4x100-Meter relay make the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. Cline also earned All-OAC honors in the indoor portion of the season with a third-place finish in the 200-Meters and was second on the 4x200-Meter relay. Cline is a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree and earned his first Academic All-District award.
Ulrich was an accounting major with a GPA of 3.80. He competed in cross country and was a distance athlete on the track for the Purple Raiders. He won the indoor 3,000-Meters, outdoor 5,000 and 10,000-Meters and finished second in the 5,000-Meters indoor and third at the OAC Cross Country Championship. Ulrich is a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree while being named to the Academic All-District for the second time.
Hanlon was a biology major with a GPA of 3.87. He was a pole vaulter for the Purple Raiders. He won both indoor and outdoor OAC pole vault competition. Hanlon is a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree while being named to the Academic All-District for the first time.
Riley is a finance major with a GPA of 4.00. He was a mid-distance runner for the Purple Raiders. Riley earned both the Academic All-OAC honor and Academic All-District for the first time.
Franitti is a finance and accounting major with a GPA of 3.88. He was a sprinter for the Purple Raiders. He was the OAC Champion in the 400-Meter hurdles and was the OAC Runner-up in the 110-Meter hurdles this past season. Franitti earned both the Academic All-OAC honor and Academic All-District for the first time.
Sopchak is a finance and marketing major with a GPA of 3.98. He was a mid-distance runner for the Purple Raiders. Sopchak earned both the Academic All-OAC honor and Academic All-District for the first time.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes track & field/cross country honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 14. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
