The 2026 season is here. No. 3 nationally ranked Mount Union will start its 129th season on Saturday, September 5, as it travels to play No. 5 Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois-about 40 minutes west of Chicago. Last year's matchup turned into an exciting one-score game as the Thunder tried to rally with 22 unanswered points, and the Raiders held off Wheaton for a 37-29 win for its 38th-straight season-opening win. Mount Union is 7-0 all-time vs. Wheaton. Prior to last season, all other meetings between the two schools occurred in the NCAA Playoffs, including the 2008 NCAA Semifinals, when Mount Union won 45-24 on its way to win its 10th National Championship following a 31-26 win over Wisconsin-Whitewater in the 2008 Stagg Bowl. Their first meeting was on November 25, 1995 (Mount won 40-14).
