Women's Soccer: Raiders Record Third Straight Shutout in Win Over Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. – Mount Union's women's soccer team defeated Mount Aloysius 4-0 in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening.

The Purple Raiders (5-3) would strike first when junior Rachel Washburn (Columbia Station / Columbia) found the back of the net off an assist from senior Eleanore Busch (Concord Twp. / Riverside) in the 14th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Then, in the 37th minute senior Paige Klingensmith (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) would extend the lead to two goals after scoring off a penalty kick.

Mount Union would once again add to their lead in the 50th minute when junior Rachel Chenos (Hilliard / Hilliard Bradley) scored off an assist from fellow junior Rylee Hutton (Salem) to make the lead three goals. The Raiders would add a fourth and final goal in the 61st minute when senior Ella Dinwiddie (Medina / Wadsworth) found the back of the net, making it 4-0.

The Mounties (0-7-1) wouldn't have an answer over the remainder of the game as the Raiders would go on to win 4-0.

Junior goalkeeper Leanne Williams (Poland / Poland Seminary) and freshman goalkeeper Brianna McCashin (Medina) combined to record the shutout for Mount Union, this marks the third straight game the Raiders have shutout their opponent.

The Raiders return home next when they host Otterbein on Saturday, October 3 for their Ohio Athletic Conference opener and also Senior Night, the game will kick-off at 4 p.m. with senior beginning at approximately 3:45 p.m. in Kehres Stadium in Alliance.
