ALLIANCE, Ohio—The mount Union women's volleyball team split a pair of games Saturday afternoon while hosting the Mount Union Invitational.
The Purple Raiders (2-2) opened the day with a sweep of Chatham (1-3), 25-12, 25-22 and 25-20.
Sophomore
Zoe Sweigart (Canal Winchester) led the way with 10 kills while senior
Sadie Thomas (Maplewood, Pa. / Maplewood) finished with eight kills.
Junior
Anna Mihacevich (Hinkley / Padua Franciscan) and sophomore
DeLani Durst (Clyde) finished with 17 and 15 assists while senior
Averi Haley (Orrville) and junior
Sam Cantrell (Eastlake / Eastlake North) finished with 11 and 10 digs.
Chatham was led by Maddy Roberts with eight kills, Kate Giannetta with 12 assists and Kelly Dougherty with nine digs.
In the second game of the day Mount Union fell in straight sets to John Carroll (2-1), 25-21, 25-20 and 25-22.
Thomas led the way this time with 10 kills while senior
Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) finished the day with seven kills on 10 swings.
Durst led the way with 18 assists while Mihacevich finished with nine. Haley once again led the way in digs with 11 while Durst picked up eight.
John Carroll was led by Natalie Glowe with 16 kills, Tess Humphrey with 20 assists and Olivia Mogyordy with 17 digs.
Sweigart was named to the All-Tournament Team this weekend with 36 kills, 14 digs and 4 blocks.
Mount Union will remain home next Wednesday taking on St. Vincent at 7 PM.
