The Raiders won back-to-back National Titles for the second time in school history but for the first time the Stagg Bowl was conducted in prime time as night game saw Mount Union beat Bridgewater (Va.), 30-27.

Mount Union finished second in the nation in offense (518.1 ypg), third in fewest points allowed (8.6 ppg) and fourth overall in team defense (216.1 ypg) during regular season play.

Running back Chuck Moore led the way, earning National Player of the Year honors as he rushed for 2,349 yards on 319 carries – good for a 7.4 yard per carry average with 30 rushing scores. In the playoffs, he posted three-straight 200 yard rushing games. Including the playoffs, Moore rushed for 5,871 yards in his Raider career. Teammate Dan Pugh finished with 843 yards on 172 touches with 13 rushing touchdowns.

Quarterback Rob Adamson completed 188 of 296 attempts (.635) for 3,056 yards with 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Wide receiver Jason Candle totaled 62 receptions for 1,277 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Defensively, end Matt Campbell had 83 hits, 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks and two interceptions, outside linebacker Jason Perkins finished with 81 hits and 12 tackles for loss, and end Todd Braden totaled 69 hits, 22 tackles for loss and 12 sacks.
