2015 National Champions

A veteran Mount Union team that returned six All-Americans would not be denied as the Purple Raiders won the school's 24th straight and 27th overall Ohio Athletic Conference title then ran through the playoffs capped by a 49-35 win over St. Thomas (Minn.) in the Stagg Bowl for the school's record 12th national title.

A dominating defense that posted six shutouts led all of college football in  in total defense (197.6 yds/gm), scoring defense (9.3) and rushing defense (55.2 yds/gm).  The top three tacklers on the unit All-Americans Alex Kocheff and Tom Lally along with Jonathan Gonell each played in all 60 games over the past four seasons.  Lally earned national defensive player of the year accolades after setting school single season records with 26.0 tackles for loss and 20.0 sacks.  Seniors in linebacker Hank Spencer, lineman Mike Furda and defensive back Tre Jones all earned All-American honors.

The offense was just as explosive as the defense leading the nation in scoring at 53.3 points per game.  Senior Taurice Scott moved from wide receiver in 2014 to quarterback in 2015 and had an All-American season as he threw for 3,340 yards with 44 touchdowns while also running for 854 yards with 13 touchdowns.  Senior running back Logan Nemeth ran for almost 1,000 yards in the playoffs and finished the season with three straight 200 yard rushing performances.  On the season, the All-American had 1,957 yards on the ground with 29 touchdowns.  Senior Roman Namdar led the nation with 20 receiving touchdowns to earn All-American honors while junior Tim Kennedy had a team-best 83 catches.  Paving the way for this group was an offensive line that was led by All-Americans in senior guard Michael Frank and junior center Mitch Doraty.

Vince Kehres finished his third season as head coach and his 43 wins are the most for a college football coach in three seasons.  Kehres has been a part of 11 of the Raiders 12 titles as either a player, assistant coach or head coach.
