Don Montgomery returns as an assistant coach working with the outside linebackers at Mount Union for the 2024 season.
Montgomery '77 was an all-conference player and team captain for the Mount Union football team and returned to his alma mater in 1978 as an assistant football coach and head wrestling coach.
As head wrestling coach he won 212 dual matches, nine OAC wrestling titles, and was a seven-time OAC Coach of the Year. He had 31 All-Americans and a national champion on the mat. On the football field, he was the defensive coordinator for the program's first six national championships coaching numerous all-conference, All-American student-athletes, and was the first-ever winner of the OAC Assistant Coach of the Year award.
