Jasper "Junior" Collins returns as an assistant on the Mount Union coaching staff as the receivers coach for the 2024 season.
Last season, Collins was on the Indianapolis Colts coaching staff as part of the Tony Dungy Diversity Coaching Fellows. Prior, Collins coached at Mount Union for three years as an assistant working with the quarterbacks and wide receivers.
As a player, Collins was a four-year letter winner at wide receiver for the Purple Raiders who was an All-American first team selection in 2012. That season, he caught 92 passes for 1,694 yards and 22 touchdowns. In the postseason alone, he had 43 receptions for 795 yards and 11 touchdowns, all NCAA Division III Tournament records as he helped lead Mount Union to Ohio Athletic Conference and national titles.
Collins signed with the Miami Dolphins as an un-drafted free agent in 2013. He spent time on the practice squad with the Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals.
Collins played for the Boston Brawlers of the Fall Experimental Football League in 2014 earning All-Star accolades. He then moved on to the Canadian Football League where he played three seasons for the Hamilton Tigers and B.C. Lions.
In between his time in the NFL and CFL, Collins spent the 2015 season as an assistant coach at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
After his playing career ended in 2018, Collins served as the manager and head strength and conditioning coach at NST Sports Performance in North Canton, Ohio.
In 2019, he coached receivers offensive skill and return specialists at Marietta.
The Geneva, N.Y. native earned a bachelor's degree in Sport Business from Mount Union in 2014 and he and his wife Maggie reside in Alliance.
