Dave Spires is in his 10th year as an assistant men's basketball coach at Mount Union.

Prior to Mount Union, Spires was an assistant boys' basketball coach at Boardman (Ohio) High School for 12 years.

The Boardman, Ohio native, was a four-year letterwinner, two-time team captain at Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College, where he led the Presidents in rebounding both his junior and senior seasons on his way to All-Presidents' Athletic Conference Second Team honors.

He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Washington & Jefferson and has spent the last 18 years as representative for Pfizer Pharmaceutical.

Spires resides in Boardman with his wife Kate and his two daughters Maya and Halle.Â
