Hannah Brown has been named the head women's soccer coach at the University of Mount Union.
Brown spent the last 10 years at the University of California-Merced, the last five as head women's soccer coach. She will be the ninth head coach in the history of the Mount Union program.
Brown, who was the second head coach in UC-Merced program history, went 48-27-8 in her time at the helm and 33-7-2 in California Pacific Conference play. Brown also led the Bobcats to five consecutive Cal Pac Championship tournaments.
The Massillon, Ohio, native and Jackson High School alum, produced 27 All-Cal Pac postseason honorees with thirteen first team selections. Brown also coached the 2020 and 2021 Cal Players of the Year and Defensive Players of the Year, who were also named NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans. The two top goal scorers in program history also played for Brown.
Brown reached double figure wins every possible year and won seven of the eight games during the shortened spring season in 2021. In the shortened season, the Bobcats went 6-0 in Cal Pac play and were just the third Cal Pac team in the last ten years to go undefeated during the conference slate.
Brown also left a mark on academics in addition to the success on the field. The women's soccer team currently holds the athletics department's longest streak with six consecutive years as a NAIA Scholar Team. A team must have a 3.0 GPA to be considered a Scholar Team.
Brown was an assistant coach for the Bobcats for five years prior to serving as the head coach. In her 10 years at UC-Merced she also held other roles in the UC-Merced athletics department, including Events Coordinator and Assistant Director of Operations.
In 2018, Brown was a United Soccer Coaches Association 30 under 30 honoree. Brown has a bachelor's degree from the University of Akron and a master's degree from Fresno State University.
