The Raiders (8-15, 2-6 OAC) fell 7-1 and 3-2 in doubleheader
action at #30 ranked Marietta (19-7, 7-3 OAC) on Tuesday, April 17
at Don Schaly Stadium in Marietta, Ohio.
In the opener, Marietta scored single runs in each of the first
four innings, then added a three-spot in the fifth. The Raiders'
lone run came in the third when shortstop Josh Faltot doubled home
designated hitter Kyle Green.
Shawn Kerek (5-2) suffered the loss for Mount Union, tossing the
first five. Paul Mariotti pitched a scoreless sixth in relief.
Pioneer starter Justin Merryman went the distance and struck out
seven.
Mount Union trailed 1-0 in the nightcap before striking for two
runs in the top of the sixth. Designated hitter Grant Sevek drove
in both runs on a clutch two-out single. However, the Pioneers
would come back with two in the seventh to earn a walk-off
victory.
Tommy Kerr (1-1) took the loss for the Raiders, tossing 6.1
innings, allowing two earned runs. Don Pugliese (1-1) earned the
win in relief for Marietta.
At the plate, Faltot and first baseman Cory Slaybaugh each
collected a pair of hits.
The Raiders return to action tomorrow, April 18, at home against
Baldwin-Wallace. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
