(DEFIANCE, OH)--Mount Union College's women's soccer team gave up a goal in the 77th minute to lose 3-2 to Oberlin College in the season opener Saturday at the Defiance College Classic in Defiance, Ohio.
The Raiders (0-1), who outshot Oberlin 16-15, got on the board first with a goal in the fifth minute on an unassisted goal from sophomore Deidre Dick (Mansfield/Crestview).
Oberlin would tie the game eight minutes later and the game stayed 1-1 at the half.
Oberlin took a 2-1 lead with a score in the 64th minute, but the Raiders would get the score to 2-2 when junior Amy Greiner (Willoughby Hills/Willoughby South) put one to the back of the net off a corner kick from senior Jenn Scrimenti (Highland Heights/Gilmour Academy).
Oberlin got the game-winner from Katy Holihan in the 77th minute.
Mount Union will take on the host Defiance College Sunday at 3 p.m. in Defiance, OH.
