Mount Union (4-0, 3-0 OAC) held a 3-0 lead at the end of the
first quarter with the only scoring, a 32-yard field goal from
senior Jay Carpenter (Fairmont, WV/Fairmont).
Baldwin-Wallace (1-3, 1-2 OAC) senior quarterback Anthony Gardner
tossed a pair of costly pics in the second quarter that resulted in
14 Mount Union points.
The first interception was deep in Jacket territory as senior Drew McClain (Newark/Licking Valley) picked off a Gardner pass on the
B-W 26-yard line. Six plays later senior running back Scott Panchik (Natrona Heights, PA/Highlands) rumbled in from a yard out
to make it 10-0.
On Jackets next possession Gardner drove them down to the Mount
Union 25-yard line before he was picked off by senior Ryan Renbarger (Euclid/Euclid) on the six-yard line.
Mount Union quarterback Kurt Rocco (Cincinnati/Roger Bacon)
completed a 53 yard pass to senior Cecil Shorts III
(Cleveland/Collinwood) then later in the drive Shorts scored on a
seven-yard touchdown run out of the wildcat formation to give the
Raiders a 16-0 lead at the break.
The Raiders then went to the ground game as they rushed for 170
yards in the second half and put two more touchdowns on the board
as Panchik had a 13-yard run and freshman quarterback Neal Seaman
(Louisville/Louisville) dove in from four yards out on the first
play of the fourth quarter for the 30-0 final.
Panchik had his third straight 100 yard game as he tallied 115
yards on 23 carries and fellow senior running back Terrance Morring
(Sanford, FL/Winter Springs) was just one yard shy of his
career-high with 105 yards on 11 carries to lead a Raider offense
that out-gained B-W 417-131.
Aside from the two interceptions, the Mount Union defense got a
sack as senior linebacker Judd Lutz (Tiffin/Tiffin Columbian) had a
career-high 11 stops as the unit got its first shutout of the
season.
Mount Union travels next week to undefeated Capital at 1:30 pm
from Bernlohr Stadium in Columbus.
