#1 Football in NCAA Playoff Semifinals for 15th Straight Year

The Purple Raiders (13-0) extended the nation's longest winning streak to 28 games and will play against undefeated Wesley (DE) in the semifinals next Saturday at noon at Mount Union Stadium - TICKET INFORMATION.

 

Morring had a game-high 85 yards on 21 carries and scored on runs of 1, 2 and 3 yards in addition to combining with quarterback Kurt Rocco (Cincinnati/Roger Bacon) on a 45-yard touchdown.

 

Rocco finished 19-of-23 for 267 yards, had his first rushing touchdown of the year from a yard out and tossed a pair of touchdowns as he hit Vince Petruziello (Mentor/Lake Catholic) on a 68-yard scoring pass.  Petruziello finished the day with a season-best 126 receiving yards on four catches.   

 

Safety Drew McClain (Newark/Licking Valley) returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown on the second play of the game and led a defense that forced three fumbles and had a pair of interceptions.  Defensive tackle Lambert Budzinski (Massillon/Massillon Jackson) had four sacks as the Raiders finished with seven for the game.

 

John Whelan kicked a 26-yard field goal for Albright (11-2) early in the second quarter, cutting Mount Union's lead to 14-3, but the Purple Raiders responded by scoring the next 41 points.
