Mount Union falls to 19-17 overall, while Wooster moves to
31-7.
Wooster hit back-to-back home runs to start the game and four in a
first inning that saw the first nine hitters all reach base.
When the dust settled 12 hitters went to the plate in the inning
scoring nine runs.
Mount Union got one run back in the bottom of the first, but the
Scots put the game away with a seven-run second inning that
included 12 more hitters and another home run.
In total, Wooster scored in seven of the nine innings tallying
30 hits.
Greg Ferrell (Uniontown/Green) had a pair of hits, while Mike
Griffth (Louisville/East Canton), Dan Henderson (Canton/GlenOak),
Nate McFarland (Canton/GlenOak), Kyle Von Duyke (Medina/Medina) and
Anthony Valentino (Highland Heights/Mayfield) each drove in a run
for Mount Union.
Justin McDowell went five innings to pick up the win on the
mound for Wooster.
Mount Union hosts Otterbein College in the regular season and
Ohio Athletic Conference finale Saturday at 1 pm at 23rd Street
Field in Alliance. The Raiders need the Cardinals to drop at
least one game tomorrow at Ohio Northern then get a sweep to
qualify for the OAC Tournament.
