ALLIANCE, Ohio--John Carroll escaped with a 1-0 Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over Mount Union Tuesday in Alliance.

In the 60th minute, Blue Streak defender Val Korb knocked a ball off the cross bar that Purple Raider keeper Taryn Vespoint (Ravenna/Ravenna) caught but the officials ruled that the ball had crossed the goal line and gave John Carroll the game's only goal.

Vespoint finished with nine saves for Mount Union (3-8-3, 1-3 OAC).

Molly Gradowkski posted three saves to get the shutout for John Carroll (6-6-2, 3-1 OAC).

The Raiders next play Heidelberg in an OAC match Saturday at 1:30 pm in Tiffin, Ohio.
