(ALLIANCE, OH)-- Mount Union's softball team improved its record to 9-5 on the season as they swept a doubleheader against Malone at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
Mount Union won the first game by a score of 13-8 and the second game by a score of 5-1.
In game one, sophomore pitcher Bre Willis (Navarre/Fairless) threw for four and one-third innings as she improved her record to 4-2 on the season.
Senior third basemen Anna Horning (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) went three-for-four and drove in three runs and also hit a two-run home run. Junior catcher Mara Palombaro (Boardman/Cardinal Mooney) drove in three runs as she went two-for-three and hit a solo home run as well.
In game two, freshman pitcher Rachel McAninch (West Jefferson/West Jefferson) pitched all seven innings while allowing one earned run, three hits and struck out four Malone batters.
Palombaro went two-for-four in the game with a triple and driving in two runs. Junior second baseman Alex Lucak (Maple Heights/Trinity) scored twice and drove in a run while going three-for-four at the plate.
The Raiders will remain at home as they host Trine (IN) in a doubleheader Saturday at 2 pm at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
