(MARIETTA, OH)--Mount Union's baseball team suffered 6-0 and
10-0 Ohio Athletic Conference losses at No. 10 in the nation
Marietta College Saturday at Don Schaly Stadium in Marietta.
Marietta now stands at 13-3 overall and 2-0 in the OAC, while
Mount Union falls to 7-6 overall and 0-2 in the OAC.
The Pioneers got great pitching performances from Mark Williams
and Austin Blaski. Williams tossed a complete game
five-hitter in the game one shutout, while Blaski allowed only six
hits over eight innings to get the win in game two.
Mount Union hurler Mark Sabatino
(Mayfield Hts/Mayfield) had a solid outing in game one as he went
the distance and allowed only eight hits, but the lack of offense
along with four Raider errors in the field sent him to his first
loss of the season (3-1).
Cody
Colly (Massillon/Massillon Washington) suffered a similar fate
in game two as he struck out four, surrendered four earned runs and
gave up eight hits over five innings. The defense had three
errors behind him that resulted in three unearned runs.
At the plate, Matt Tracy
(Pittsburgh/Central Catholic) had two of Mount Union's five hits in
game one and Greg Ferrell
(Uniontown/Green) extended his school-record hitting streak to 21
games.
Mount Union starts a three-game homestand Tuesday at 4 pm
against Walsh at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
