home run in game two against John Carroll.

(UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH)--John Carroll scored four runs in the
bottom of the ninth to earn a 9-8 win in game two to sweep Mount
Union in a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference baseball games
Wednesday in University Heights. The Blue Streaks won the
first game 4-2 and are now in first place in the OAC.
Mount Union falls to 15-14 overall and 5-7 in the OAC, while John
Carroll is now 20-9 overall and after a Muskingum swept of Marietta
the Blue Steaks now stand alone a top the standings at 8-2 in the
OAC.
The Purple Raiders led on three different occasions in game two and
each time the Blue Streaks rallied.
Mount Union led 1-0 after a Connor Nell (Powell/Olentangy) RBI
triple in the first, before John Carroll tied it with a run in the
bottom of the second and took a 2-1 lead on a Bryan Robinett homer
in the fourth.
The Raiders retook the lead, 4-2, with a three-run fifth sparked by
a two-run triple from Kyle VonDuyke (Medina/Medina).
John Carroll rallied again with a two-run fifth and a run in the
sixth to grab a 5-4 advantage.
In the seventh, Mount Union tied the game on an RBI single from Ty
Wood (Hudson/Hudson) and took an 8-5 lead on a three-run home run
from Nick Elliott (Poland/Poland Seminary).
That lead held until the bottom of the ninth when John Carroll
loaded the bases with one out and tied the game on a two-run single
from Tom Hickey and won the game on a two-out RBI single Aaron
Miller.
In the opener, the Mount Union bats were held in check as the
Raiders had just two runs on seven hits in a 4-2 loss.
Paul Mariotti (Copley/Copley) was the hard luck loser for Mount
Union as he gave up just four runs on six hits and struck out a
career-high nine batters.
Matt Tracy (Pittsburgh/Central Catholic) drove in a run on three
hits to lead the Raiders at the plate.
Mount Union returns home to host Capital in an OAC series and
senior day Saturday at 1 pm at 23rd Street Field in
Alliance.
