Box Score OBERLIN, Ohio -- A pair of second-half Oberlin goals led to the
demise of Mount Union's women's soccer team on Wednesday, sending
the Purple Raiders to a 2-0 defeat.
Sophie Vieland opened the scoring for Oberlin (1-0) in the 12th
minute, hammering a 40-yard free kick for the goal. Lois Immerman
extended the hosts' lead to 2-0 with a tally in the 41st
minute.
Raider goalkeepers Taryn
Vespoint (Ravenna/Ravenna) and Aubree
Lieberman (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights) played one half
each. Vespoint stopped four shots in the first half while Lieberman
came through with five stops during the second.
For the Yeowomen, Rachel Bandeira made two saves.
The Mount Union women (0-1) will be in action again this
weekend. They will visit Urbana at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and then
Wittenberg at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
