Box Score 2 BEREA, Ohio -- The Mount Union volleyball team won both of its
Marcia French Memorial matches at Baldwin-Wallace on Saturday and
-- via tiebreaker -- was named tournament champion. Senior Roni Schroeder
was selected to the all-tournament team.
The Raiders (5-4) opened up the day with a sweep of Westminster
(Pa.), 25-6, 25-22, 25-11.
Monica
Hupertz pounded down 15 kills while Schroeder had 11. Julie Radigan
added 33 assists and Deanna Glass
smashed four service aces.
On defense, Sarah Dean and Kristen
Gromes finished with 25 and 12 digs, respectively.
The Mount Union squad then closed out the tourney with a 25-23,
25-14, 25-10 decision over Franciscan.
Glass led the way in kills with 12. Schroeder contributed
10.
Also, Radigan had 34 assists and Dean finished with 16 digs.
Both the Purple Raiders and Baldwin-Wallace Yellow Jackets
enjoyed 4-0 records at the invitational, but the Raiders lost fewer
sets to break the tie.
Mount Union will be back in action next weekend at the Centre
College Classic (Ky.). Opponents include LaGrange (Ga.), Centre,
Maryville (Tenn.) and Hanover (Ind.).
