ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Wilmington's Ashley Garcia converted a penalty kick for the lone goal in Mount Union women's soccer's 1-0 loss at Mount Union Stadium on Saturday. Garcia scored during the 21st minute of the OAC opener.

Katie Etling (Mantua/Garfield) nearly tied the game in the second half, but her shot clanged off the crossbar.

Taryn Vespoint (Ravenna/Ravenna) and Aubree Lieberman (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights) split time in the Purple Raider net. Vespoint stopped two shots in the first half while Lieberman had one save during the second.

Winning goalie Maria Larson had four saves for Wilmington (5-2-1, 1-0-0).

Mount Union (2-6-2, 0-1-0) will be in action next when it hosts Hiram on Tuesday. Kickoff will be at 4 p.m.
