Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Jackie
Lowdermilk (Wadsworth/Wadsworth) converted Mount Union's lone
goal on Tuesday, pulling the Purple Raider women's soccer team into
a 1-1 tie with Hiram at Mount Union Stadium.
Kylee
Kolesar (Mentor/Mentor) tried to score with a header, but her
attempt clanged off the Terriers' crossbar. Lowdermilk jumped on
the rebound and pounded the ball past Hiram goalkeeper Emily
Bristol.
The Raider tally happened during the 18th minute -- just three
minutes and thirty-nine seconds after Hiram took the lead on a goal
by Claire Conner.
Conner, the recipient of Alaina Giesen's through ball, had a
clean breakaway on net in the 15th minute.
Each team used two goalies. Aubree
Lieberman (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights) started and
made one save in 17:53 for Mount Union before Taryn
Vespoint (Ravenna/Ravenna) stopped four shots in 92:07 of
shutout soccer.
Bristol and Kate Valaitis had five and two saves, respectively,
for the Terriers (4-5-2, 0-0-0 NCAC).
The Purple Raiders (2-6-3, 0-1-0 OAC) will return to action this
weekend. They will visit Ohio Northern for an Ohio Athletic
Conference match on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
