NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Four players scored in double figures to lead the No. 13 ranked Mount Union women's basketball team to a 68-53 season opening win at Westminster Tuesday night.

Junior point guard Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) had nine of her game-high 15 points in a first half that saw Mount Union (1-0) run out to a 38-20 halftime lead.

Senior Amanda Rose (Green/Green) got things moving in the second half as the Purple Raiders saw a 21-point lead get reduced down to eight points, 47-39 with 9:50 to play before Rose scored six-straight points as she had 10 of her 14 points in the second half.

Senior guard Kori Wiedt (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) and junior forward Brittany Kilgore (Northfield/Nordonia) each had 10 points as the other double digit scorers for Mount Union.

Courtney Zitt had 13 points to lead Westminster (0-1).

Mount Union next travels to Pittsburgh to play in a tournament this Friday and Saturday at Carnegie Mellon.  The Raiders play Case Western Reserve Friday at 6 pm before playing the host Tartans Saturday at 4 pm.
