BEREA, Ohio -- Mount Union's baseball team snapped a four-game Ohio Athletic Confernece losing streak with an 8-5 game two victory at Baldwin-Wallace Wednesday in Berea.

Craig Knott (Canton/GlenOak), Lee Grosscup (North Canton/Green) and Zach Carlino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) each drove in two runs as Mount Union (10-13, 4-4 OAC) ran out to a 7-1 lead then hung on for an 8-5 victory.

Matt Murzynski (Mentor/Lake Catholic) allowed only three hits and struck out four over the first five innings as the freshman picked up his first collegiate win (1-1) while Cody Colly (Massillon/Massillon Washington) got the final seven outs to get his first save of the season.

The Purple Raiders started the scoring with a four-run third inning with the big coming on a two-out, two-run double from Knott.

Mount Union extended the lead to 6-0 in the fourth as they scored a run on throwing error and a sacrifice fly RBI from Grosscup.

Baldwin-Wallace (13-10, 2-6 OAC) got on the board with a run in the fourth to make it 6-1.

The Raiders scored a run in the seventh to go up 7-1 but could have had more as they failed to take advantage of three B-W errors in the frame.

The Jackets got back into the game in the bottom of the seventh as they drew five walks, had a pair of hits and plated four runs to bring the score to 7-5.

Mount Union added an insurance run in the ninth on a two-out, pinch hit RBI double from Jake DeLuca (Akron/Green), which turned out to loom large as B-W got a run in the bottom of the ninth and had the tying run on second base when Colly forced a pop out to end the game.

In the opener, Baldwin-Wallace pitcher Pat Havens pitched a complete-one hitter for a 1-0 win.

Mount Union hurler Beau Smith (Fredrick, Md./Fredrick) was the hard luck loser as he pitched a complete game three-hitter in the loss.

Mount Union next hosts Otterbein at 1 pm Saturday at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
