Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Mount Union's baseball team scored its third straight win with a 4-3 win in 11 innings Sunday at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa.
In the 11th inning, Craig Knott (Canton/GlenOak) got a one-out single, stole second and moved to third on a fielding error before Britt Williams (Canton/Massillon Jackson) scored him and broke the tie with a pinch hit sacrifice fly RBI.
Trent Vallinger (Poland/Poland Seminary) came on the mound in the bottom of the frame and got out of a bases loaded jam to earn his first save of the season.
Zach Carlino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) was one of three freshman pitchers that worked for the Raiders and allowed three hits over three innings to earn his first win of the season.
Tomcat starting pitcher Justin Fiorello was perfect for the first four innings but Mount Union got to him in the fifth inning.
Craig Knott led off the inning with a double and scored on a single from Mitch Saunders (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) then he scored on a triple from Vallinger.
Thiel raillied and took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth as the big hit came on a two-RBI double from Eric Steininger.
The Raiders posted a rally of their own in the top of the ninth as Lee Grosscup (North Canton/Green) led off the inning with a single then two fielding errors put him on third base and he tied the game scoring on a wild pitch.
Mount Union (7-9) hosts No. 4 in the nation Marietta in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader Tuesday at 1 pm at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
