Box Score FREDONIA, N.Y.—The Mount Union women's soccer team fell to Rochester (N.Y.), 2-0, Saturday afternoon. The Purple Raiders (3-2-1) struggled to create scoring opportunities and only managed four shots in the match.
After scoring 14 goals in their first three games, the Purple Raiders have failed to score in their last three. The team has had a hectic beginning to the season, playing six times in the past 10 days.
Jackie Podolsky (Canfield/Canfield) started the game in net for Mount Union and made five saves while allowing two goals. Taryn Vespoint (Ravenna/Ravenna) played the second half and made seven saves without allowing a goal.
Elizabeth Martens and Ellen Coleman scored the goals for Rochester. Bridget Lane made two saves in goal for the Yellow Jackets.
Mount Union returns to action Tuesday when they host Oberlin. Kickoff is set for 3 pm at Mount Union Stadium.
