Box Score GROVE CITY, Pa.—The Mount Union women's soccer team had its sixth win of the season in sight when host Grove City spoiled the day with a game-tying goal in the 74th minute. No more goals would be scored and the match ended in a 1-1 tie.
Senior Alyssa Flitcraft (Alliance/Marlington), named Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday, continued her outstanding play. In the 52nd minute, she was able to get a breakaway in the open field and beat the keeper to take a 1-0 lead. The OAC's leading goal-scorer now has seven on the season.
However, Grove City was able to tie the match in the 74th minute when Chelsea Tarolli headed a cross from teammate Cara Colley into the goal.
Senior goalkeeper Taryn Vespoint (Ravenna/Ravenna) was under pressure most of the night, as the Purple Raiders were outshot, 25-7. Vespoint made nine saves to help the Purple Raiders improve to 5-3-2 on the season.
Tiffany Yost made four saves for Grove City (2-4-2).
Mount Union returns to action on Saturday when they host OAC foe, Ohio Northern. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
