TIFFIN, Ohio -- The No. 12 ranked Mount Union women's basketball team posted its ninth straight win and stayed in first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference after a 73-67 win at Heidelberg Saturday in Tiffin.

Senior forward Amanda Rose (Green/Green) scored a season-high 20 points and had game-best six rebounds to pace the Purple Raiders (14-1, 7-1 OAC), who maintained a half-game lead Ohio Northern and Otterbein in the conference standings.

Fellow seniors in Kori Wiedt (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) and Erin Schmidt (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) had 16 and 11 respectively as the other double digit scorers for Mount Union.

Heidelberg (4-11, 1-7 OAC) got 17 points off the bench from Molly Schriber as one of four in double digits.

Six lead changes highlighted the game's first 10 minuts and the Berg led 17-16 when the Raiders scored 10-straight points to take a 26-17 lead on Kelly Evans (Twinsburg/Twinsburg) three-pointer at the 8:38 mark.  

Heidelberg would bounce back and tie the game at 31 with just under two minutes left in the half, but Rose would score the final four points of the half and give Mount Union a 35-31 lead at the break.

A Schmidt three-pointer to start the second half would extend the lead to seven, 38-31, but again the Berg would rally with a 13-5 run and retake the lead 44-43 with 16:23 to play.

Mount Union would then respond with a 7-0 surge capped by a three from Wiedt and the Raiders would never trail again going up by as many as 11 before the 73-67 final.

The Raiders close out the first half of conference action Wednesday (Jan. 18) at 7:30 pm at Muskingum in New Concord.
