STRUTHERS, Ohio -- Mount Union's baseball team saw its six-game winning streak stopped after dropping a pair of games 3-1 and 5-1 against Westminster (Pa.) Saturday at Cene Park in Struthers, Ohio.

The Purple Raiders (9-4) were held to a combined 12 hits in the two games as Westminster (7-5) got a pair of complete game pitching victories from Justin Prejsnar and Ron Sullivan.

In the opener, Westminster pushed a run across in the third ininng to take a 1-0 lead.

Mount Union tied the game in the fifth on an RBI double from Connor Mathis (Akron/Firestone).

The Titans retook the lead in the sixth with a pair of runs on just one hit -- a Kyle Allen RBI single -- as they took advantage of a wild pitch and a passed ball for the 3-1 final.

Mathis and Jimmy Dobran (Poland/Poland Seminary) each had three hits to pace the offense.

The lack of offense spoiled a solid pitching performance by Raiders starter Matt Murzynski (Mentor/Lake Catholic) who allowed only four hits and went the distance in the loss.

In game two, Westminster scored a run in the first and three in the third to jump out to a 4-0 lead.

Mount Union got on the board with a run in the fifth as C.J. Stotler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) started the inning with a double and would later score on a ground out from Anthony Morino (Strongsville/Strongsville) but the rally ended there.

Sullivan was strong on the mound for the Titans as he gave up just the one earned run off four hits. He fanned four and walked two.

Beau Smith (Frederick, Md./Frederick) struck out six but took his first loss of the season on the mound for Mount Union and falls to 3-1.

Mount Union is back in action Sunday as they host Wittenberg in a non-conference doubleheader at 23rd Street Field in Alliance with first pitch slated for 1 pm.
