SHAKER  HEIGHTS, Ohio—The Mount Union women's tennis came up short in a 5-4 loss to John Carroll Thursday evening at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights. The Purple Raiders are now 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference this season.

Mount Union took four of the six singles points, but it was not enough to overcome being swept in doubles play.

Mandy Wise (North Canton/Hoover), Megan Czuchra (Mantua/Crestwood), Courtney Adamsky (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia), and MacKenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern) earned singles victories for the Raiders.

Wise defeated Cassie Simmelink at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 7-5; Czuchra defeated Erin Davies at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-3; Adamsky defeated Hannah Baumwell at No. 5 singles, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4; and Jenkins defeated Allison Mora at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Mount Union resumes its OAC schedule with a trip to Ada to take on Ohio Northern on Saturday at 1 pm.
