Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's baseball team saw its win streak end at seven games with a 10-4 non-conference loss to Penn State-Behrend Wednesday at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
With the score tied at 4-4 in the top of the sixth inning, a Mount Union throwing error extended the inning and allowed three unearned runs to score in a four-run inning that put Behrend back out in front 8-4.
The loss brings the Purple Raiders record to 23-9 while Behrend snaps a two-game skid and is now 22-8-1 on the season.
Behrend scored two runs in both the first and second innings to take a 4-0 lead while starting pitcher Mike Moyer faced the minimum through 3.2 innings.
In the fourth inning, Mount Union broke up the perfect game with three-straight hits and scored a run on a Zach Carlino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) single.
The Raiders then tied the game as they took advantage of two Behrend errors in the fifth to score three runs with RBI singles coming from Jimmy Dobran (Poland/Poland Seminary) and Lee Grosscup (Green/Green).
Berhend tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning for the 10-4 final.
Ryan Geibel drove in five runs on three hits for Behrend, while Carlino and Justin Jakubik (Strongsville/Strongsville) each had three hits for Mount Union.
On the mound, Moyer got the win and moved to 4-0 as he allowed only two earned runs over the first seven innings, while Sean Koury (Youngstown/Boardman) took the loss in relief for Mount Union.
Mount Union comes back Saturday and hosts Heidelberg in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader at 1 pm at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
