Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio --Mount Union's women's soccer team got off to a quick start with two goals in the first two minutes and held on to defeat Penn State-Behrend 2-1 in a non-conference game Wednesday evening at Mount Union Stadium.
Gina Wall (Warren/Howland) netted the game's first goal off a great pass by senior forward Kylee Kolesar (Mentor/Mentor) after just 37 seconds which was her second goal of the season.
The Purple Raiders went up 2-0 just 59 seconds later, when Kolesar knocked a header into the back of the net.
The score stayed at 2-0 until the 66th minute when Penn State Behrend got on the board with a goal by Valerie Wagner in the 66th minute. The goal was setup when Raider keeper Maria Favorite (Chesterland/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) collided with a Behrend player and the ball got to Wagner who scored.
Favorite was out of the game for seven minutes, but returned in the 74th minute and finished the game with four saves to help Mount Union seal the victory.
Mount Union wins its third-straight game and moves to 4-1 on the season, while Penn State-Behrend remained winless at 0-5.
Mount Union next hosts Grove City (Pa.) Monday, Sept. 17th at 7 pm at Mount Union Stadium.
