ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's tennis team defeated Wooster in impressive fashion 9-0. With the win, Mount Union is 1-0, while Wooster falls to 0-2.
In all six of its singles matches, the Purple Raiders were victorious in straight sets. Mandy Wise (North Canton/Hoover) defeated Rachel Dietz in the number one singles match 6-0, 6-2. Megan Czuchara (Mantua/Crestwood) was forced into an extra set in the first set of her number three singles match, but was victorious in the end 7-5, 6-3.
Freshman Megan Reichert (Ashtabula/Lakeside) started out her collegiate career by shutting out Robin Klauss (6-0, 6-0) in both sets in the number six singles match.
Mandy Wise (North Canton/Hoover) and Hannah Arvidson (North Canton/GlenOak) were victorious in the number one doubles match 8-1. In the number two singles match, Megan Czuchara (Mantua/Crestwood) and Mackenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern)battled in the number two doubles match but were victorious in a hard fought match 9-7.
Courtney Adamsky (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) and Taylor Dowling (Canton/Massillon Jackson) finished out the sweep of the doubles matches for the Purple Raiders 8-2.
Mount Union will play its next match on September 28 at Saint Vincent (Pa.) starting at 3:30 pm.
