ALLIANCE, Ohio - - Mount Union's women's tennis team defeated Grove City (Pa.) 8-1 in a non-conference tennis match Thursday evening in the Peterson Fieldhouse.
With the win, Mount Union improves to 2-2 on the season while Grove City falls to 8-4.
The Purple Raiders got off to a great start as sophomores Mandy Wise (North Canton/Hoover) and MacKenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern) were victorious in the no. 1 doubles match as they defeated Caroline McGuire and Lauren Troxel 8-2.
Wise was dominant in the no. 2 singles match as she defeated Lauren Troxel 6-0, 6-1.
Senior Courtney Adamsky (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) was victorious in both her singles and doubles match. She defeated Kendra Tetrick in the no. 4 singles match 6-1, 7-5 and was paired with junior Megan Czuchra in the no. 2 doubles match as they defeated Karolina Lagerquist and Kendra Tetrick 8-1.
Freshman Megan Reichert (Megan Reichert) and junior Lauren Olivier (Chagrin Falls/Walsh Jesuit) both looked quite impressive in their respective singles matches, as Reichert defeated Kaitlyn Heese 6-0, 6-1 in the no. 5 singles match and Olivier defeated Leah White 6-0 6-3 in the no. 6 singles match.
Mount Union heads down south for its Spring Break trip and its next match will be Sunday March 10 against Farleigh Dickinson (N.J.) with the match scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
