HILTON HEAD, S.C. - - Mount Union's women's tennis team defeated Edgewood (Wis.) 5-4 Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference tennis match in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
With the win, Mount Union has now won five straight matches and improves to 6-2 overall, while Edgewood falls to 15-6.
Junior Lauren Olivier (Chagrin Falls/Walsh Jesuit) and sophomore Taylor Dowling (Canton/Massillon Jackson) won the deciding match for the Purple Raiders as they defeated Kristen Boone and Sarah Rendon 9-8 in the no. 3 doubles position.
Olivier also won her singles match in a third set tie break over Boone 2-6, 7-6, 10-4.
Junior Megan Czuchra (Boone, Kristen/Rendon, Sarah) was victorious in her singles match as she defeated Anna Miles 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 in the no. 3 position.
Mount Union returns to the court tomorrow for its last match of the spring trip when it faces Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (N.Y.) at 8:00 a.m.
