ALLIANCE, Ohio - - Mount Union's women's tennis team opened up Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 9-0 defeat of Muskingum Saturday afternoon in Alliance, Ohio.
With the win, Mount Union improves to 7-3 on the season and 1-0 in the OAC, while Muskingum falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Sophomore MacKenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern) won the no. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 over Lindsay Mullen to improve her singles record on the season to 8-2. Her eight singles victories lead the Purple Raiders this season.
The pairing of junior Lauren Olivier (Chagrin Falls/Walsh Jesuit) and sophomore Taylor Dowling (Canton/Massillon Jackson) picked up their team-leading sixth doubles victory of the season as they defeated Autumn Nelson and Johanna Smith 8-0 in the no. 3 position.
Mount Union returns to action Friday when they travel to Westerville, Ohio to face Otterbein at 1:00 p.m.
