Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Mount Union's baseball team suffered an 11-6 non-conference loss Sunday at Thiel College at Tomcat Park in Greenville, Pa.
The loss drops Mount Union to 12-11 overall while Thiel moves to 16-10 on the season.
Thiel belted out 13 hits as Jarrod Nanna drove in three runs on a pair of doubles.
Anthony Morino (Strongville/Strongsville) drove in three runs on three hits and Connor Mathis (Akron/Firestone) had three hits to lead Mount Union at the plate.
With the game scoreless after three innings, Mount Union started out the fourth inning with three straight singles with Morino driving in a run to give the Purple Raiders a 1-0 lead.
Thiel took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with three runs -- two of them unearned -- but Mount Union tied the game in the fifth as Mitchell Lake (Orwell/Grand Valley) and Evan Knott (Canton/GlenOak) each drove in runs.
The Tomcats blew the game open in the bottom of the fifth with six runs -- scoring four of them with two outs to lead 9-3.
Thiel extended the lead to 10-3 with a run in the sixth.
Morino would have an RBI single in the eighth to make it 10-4 before Thiel scored another run in the bottom half of the frame to send the score to 11-4.
The Raiders put two more on the board in the ninth on RBI singles from Knott and Morino for the 11-6 final.
Mike Pica got the win in relief for Thiel while Ryker Locke (Minerva/Minerva) took the loss out of the pen for Mount Union.
The Raiders play two Ohio Athletic Conference games Monday at 1 pm Ohio Northern in Ada before returning home to host Capital Tuesday at 1 pm at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
