Box Score 2 ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union was swept at home for the first time in two seasons in Ohio Athletic Conference play falling 10-5 and 13-7 to Baldwin Wallace Saturday at 23rd Street Field.
The Purple Raiders fall to 10-8 overall and 2-4 in the OAC while Baldwin Wallace is 16-4 overall and tied for first in the conference with #3 Marietta at 5-1.
In game one, Baldwin Wallace took advantage of three Mount Union errors in the first three innings to jump out to a 9-0 lead.
The Raiders rallied with five unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth innings with big hits coming in the form of a two RBI double from C.J. Stotler (Pittsburgh/Plum) and an RBI single from Justin Jakubik (Strongsville/Strongsville) to cut the deficit to 9-5.
The rally ended there as BW tacked on a run in the sixth for the 10-5 win.
Yellow Jacket ace Pat Havens scattered six hits and struck out five on his way to a complete game victory.
Baldwin Wallace got to an early lead again in game two up 5-0 after three innnings.
Mount Union again rallied as Ben Atkinson (Carrollton/Carrollton) came off the bench and hit a three-run pinch-hit home run to make the score 5-3.
The Jackets got a run back in the fourth to lead 6-3 and it was Atkinson again in the fifth, this time with an RBI single to bring the score to 6-4.
Baldwin Wallace once again took advantage of a Raider miscue in the field as a Mount Union error int he seventh led to three unearned runs as BW scored four in the frame to up 11-4.
Atkinson drove in his fifth run with a single in the bottom of the seventh and both teams each scored two more runs for the 13-7 final.
Atkinson finished 3-for-3 with five RBI while freshman Scott Sherwood (Mentor/Mentor) went 4-for-4 and scored four runs to lead Mount Union in game two.
Anthony Alioto went seven innings to get the win for BW.
Mount Union plays a pair of non-conference games Sunday at 1 pm against Westminster (Pa.) at Cene Park in Struthers, Ohio.
