Football: #3 Mount Union Runs Over Capital 75-0; Raiders School-Record 8 Rushing TD's

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 3 Mount Union had a school-record eight rushing touchdowns as the Purple Raiders defeated Capital, 75-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Saturday in Columbus.

The Raiders rushed for 491 yards as Mount Union generated 730 total yards of offense while the defense held Capital to 60 total yards.

Mount Union (4-0, 3-0) extends its regular season win streak to 87 games while Capital falls to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the OAC.

Junior running back Brandon Williams (Oakland, Calif./Livermore) rushed for three touchdowns with a career-best 107 rushing yards on six carries, sophomore Bradley Mitchell (Detroit, Mich./South Lake) had two rushing touchdowns on 93 yards rushing. 

The other three rushing touchdowns came from freshman Jamal Johnson (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) with two and junior Logan Nemeth (McBain, Mich./McBain) had the other rushing score.

Senior quarterback Kevin Burke (Westlake/Lakewood St. Edward) completed 15-of-22 passes for 222 yards and threw two touchdowns all in the first half.

Senior wide receiver Luc Meacham (Toldeo/Toledo Central Catholic) and junior wide receiver Roman Namdar (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) each caught a touchdown pass as they both had four catches for 77 yards.

Edward Ruhnke (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) kicked a pair of field goals from 36 and 23 yards for the rest of the scoring.

The defense forced three turnovers as junior Tom Lally (Fairview Park/Lakewood St. Edward) forced a pair of fumbles and junior Alex Kocheff (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) had an interception.  Junior linebacker Hank Spencer (Greencastle, Ind./North Putnam) led the unit with 5.5 tackles.

Mount Union ran out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, four more touchdowns in the second quarter made it 49-0 at the half while a 23-point third quarter and a field goal in the fourth quarter finished the scoring.

The Raiders stay on the road playing next week at Ohio Northern.  Kickoff is 1:30 pm at Dial-Roberson Stadium in Ada.
