Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- No. 18 ranked Mount Union suffered a 15-0 loss to Allegheny (Pa.) Thursday in the home opener at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders are now 10-4 overall while Allegheny raises its record to 9-4.
Allegheny pitcher Kyle Davis allowed only seven hits over eight innings with five strikeouts to improve to 3-1 on the season.
The game was scoreless until the top half of the fourth when the Gators plated four runs on six hits to take a 4-0 lead.
Allegheny scored an unearned run in the sixth then 10 unanswered runs in the eighth and ninth for the 15-0 win.
Allegheny first baseman Ben Murray drove in five runs on three hits.
Connor Mathis (Akron/Firestone) had three hits for Mount Union.
The Raiders host Ohio Northern in an Ohio Athletic Conference series against Ohio Northern Saturday at 1 pm at 23rd Street Field.
