BEREA, Ohio -- Mount Union's baseball team split an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday at Baldwin Wallace falling in game one 6-3 then winning the nightcap 16-14.

The Purple Raiders, 18-10 overall and 6-8 in the OAC, have won six of their last seven games.

Justin Jakubik (Strongsville/Strongsville) had six hits on the day including his first home run of the season while driving in four runs and Ricky Olasz (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) also had six hit over the two games as Mount Union combined for 30 hits.

In game one, Baldwin Wallace (19-12, 8-6 OAC) scored a run in the second and three runs in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.

Mount Union rallied to make the score 4-3 with a run in the fifth on an Anthony Morino (Strongsville/Strongsville) RBI single and two more in the sixth off a two-run homer by Jakubik.

The rally stopped there as the Raiders managed just one hit over the final four innings.

BW tacked on two more runs in the eighth for the 6-3 final.

Alex Albright went six innings to get the win and Brandon Cichocki went the final 2.2 innings for his fifth save for BW.

Zach Carlino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) went seven innings, struck out five but took the loss for Mount Union.

Baldwin Wallace led game two 5-4 before Mount Union matched its highest scoring inning of the season with an 11-run seventh inning to take a 15-5 lead.

BW cut that lead in half with a five-run seventh of its own to make it 15-10.

Mount Union got a run in the eighth, but Baldwin Wallace got four in the ninth and brought the winning run to the plate before Wes Kemp (Uniontown/Lake) -- the third Raider pitcher to work in the inning -- got the save.

Connor Mathis (Akron/Firestone) and Olasz each had four hits while Jakubik and Evan Knott (Canton/GlenOak) each had three hits as the Raiders belted out 20 total hits for the game.

Sam Clarke (Strongsville/Strongsville) went six innings to pick up the win for the Raiders.

Mount Union hosts Thiel in a non-conference game Monday at 4 pm at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
