Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's baseball team scored 11 runs in the third inning on their way to a 13-2 non-conference win against Washington & Jefferson Wednesday at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders now stand at 12-5 on the season while Washington & Jefferson is now 11-8 overall.
The Presidents had a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the second inning.
Mount Union had nine hits and took advantage of a pair of W&J errors to plate 11 runs in the bottom of the third to blow the game open.
The Raiders tacked on single runs in the fourth and sixth before the Presidents added a run in the ninth for the 13-2 final.
Every starting hitter registered a hit as Mount Union finished the game with 16 total hits.
Connor Mathis (Akron/Firestone) drive in two runs while he and Ben Atkinson (Carrollton/Carrollton) each had three hits.
Anthony Morino (Strongsville/Strongsville) drove in three runs on a pair of hits.
Four Mount Union pitchers combined to strikeout seven and allow two runs as Matt Murzynski (Mentor/Lake Catholic) started and got the win moving to 3-0 on the season.
The Raiders return to Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday playing a doubleheader at 1 pm against Heidelberg in Tiffin.
